Hearing Aids

HOW HEARING AIDS WORK

Hearing aids capture sound waves and amplify specific frequencies to make sounds audible and clear. Speech understanding is improved, and you don’t have to work as hard to listen to the world around you.

THREE BASIC STEPS IN SOUND PROCESSING

There are three essential stages involved in delivering sound into your ear:

Sound capturing

One or two tiny but powerful microphones capture sound and translate it into electrical signals.

Sound processing

These signals are sent to the processor, where they are optimised according to the wearer’s hearing needs and the characteristics of the acoustic environment (such as loudness, contrast, and background noise).

Sound transmission

Following this customised processing, the electrical signals are then converted back into acoustic signals and delivered to the ear.

RECHARGEABLE HEARING AIDS FOR CONVENIENT DAILY USE

Many state-of-the-art hearing aids are powered by built-in high-capacity rechargeable batteries. Simply recharge your hearing aids at night when you sleep and you will never need to worry about buying or changing batteries.

TYPES OF HEARING AIDS

There are several types of hearing aids, all designed to help you to hear better. A hearing care professional can help you choose the one that works best for you.

Receiver-In-the-Canal (RIC)

RIC models sit comfortably behind the ear while the receiver is located at the end of a thin earwire, producing a superior listening experience with a discreet look. They come in a variety of designs, including a very slim style.

Behind-the-Ear (BTE)

BTE models are some of the most common, due to their versatility and wide range of functions. They sit behind the ear, and a thin clear tube enters the ear. They are easy to remove and clean.

Completely-In-the-Canal (CIC & IIC)

These ultra-small hearing aids sit almost completely within the ear canal and are very difficult to see.

In-the-Ear and In-the-Canal (ITE & ITC)

These fit snugly in the ear or ear canal. While they are visible from the side, they come in discreet colors.

Earbuds

These are high-performance hearing aids in a premium earbudcomplete with hands-free calling and streaming.

CHOOSING THE RIGHT HEARING AID

Hearing aids come in many styles and are selected based on the type and degree of hearing loss, lifestyle needs, and individual preferences. A professional hearing evaluation helps determine the most suitable option.
